Aims of the Institute and Mission statement

The Italian Institute for Mindfulness – IS.I.MIND is a non-profit organization that brings together clinicians, researchers, and professionals in the medical, psychological, social science fields, and in general all those interested in the application and dissemination  of mindfulness and practices aimed to develop this particular state of mind.
The overall goal of the association is to promote knowledge, training, and scientific research on mindfulness and the use of mindfulness-based approaches and Mindfulness meditation (or insight meditation) in psychotherapy, medical, social, educational and organizations field, with a particular focus on Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).
The Italian Institute for Mindfulness, in its educational, clinical and scientific activity, is committed to promote and develop,  both nationally and internationally,  the integration of Western science with Eastern cultural roots (Buddhist Psychology) from which the mindfulness-based perspective derives.
The association is based on principles of integrity and honesty in the application of this approach, aimed at improving the general well-being and reducing the individual suffering.
IS.I.MIND requires that its members adhere to the core values, purpose,  and vision that characterize the association and its inspiring  doctrine, and also requires commitment to a regular meditation practice and theoretical study.
These goals are developed and achieved through the organization of  seminars, workshops, trainings, experiential retreats, research, counselling and conferences, which favour the integration of the main, most significant and scientifically based experiences and trends in this theory and application, and also through the management and development of this website which is a communication tool and meeting place between the Association and its members.
